About Our Workroom
How is RMD Lux different from other workrooms?
Unlike most regional fabricators, we are a fully in-house, design-driven studio.
We handle every step—measure, fabrication, quality control, and installation—under one roof in Maryland for unmatched consistency and luxury finishing.
Are your products made in America?
Yes. All fabrication is proudly completed in Maryland using American and European-sourced materials. Every product reflects the craftsmanship and integrity of U.S. manufacturing.
Can I visit the workroom?
Yes. Visits are available by appointment. Seeing the artisans and the process firsthand helps clients appreciate the care that defines RMD Lux.
Products & Capabilities
What types of products do you fabricate?
Draperies, Roman shades, valances, cornices, cushions, pillows, bedding, upholstered walls, benches, headboards, and more. We also take on specialized and motorized treatments, architectural windows, and complex installations.
Do you handle complex or specialty designs?
That’s our specialty. We thrive on challenging shapes, large-scale projects, and multi-layered designs that demand technical precision.
Do you fabricate using a client’s own material (COM)?
Yes. We regularly work with designer-supplied fabrics, trims, or hardware, verifying each for pattern, repeat, and suitability before fabrication begins.
Can you replicate or restore existing treatments?
Absolutely. We can modernize or faithfully recreate historic designs, update linings, or add automation while preserving the original look.
Collaboration & Clients
Do you work with interior designers?
Yes. RMD Lux is the preferred workroom for trade professionals who value clear communication, precision fabrication, and creative partnership.
Do you also work with homeowners?
Yes. We collaborate directly with discerning homeowners seeking end-to-end design and fabrication under one roof.
Do you offer fabrication for outside designers?
Yes. Designers may submit design documents or sketches for quoting; we provide technical review, material guidance, and professional fabrication.
Process & Quality
How long does fabrication take?
Most projects run 10–14 weeks, depending on complexity and material availability. Clients receive milestone updates at weeks 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12.
Can you accommodate rush orders?
Yes. We’ll evaluate feasibility and adjust scheduling without compromising quality. Rush fees may apply.
How do you ensure quality and consistency?
Every piece goes through multi-stage inspection—measure verification, construction checks, and final QA for pattern match, symmetry, and lining quality—before approval.
What defines your “luxury finishing”?
Perfect proportion, balance, and feel. Premium linings and interlinings, hand-dressed folds, and couture detailing create a signature RMD Lux finish.
Technical & Installation
Do you provide installation?
Yes. Our own installers deliver white-glove service—booties on, blankets down, and every fold dressed to perfection.
Do you offer motorization or smart-home integration?
Yes. We integrate with systems like Hunter Douglas PowerView, Somfy, and Rollease Automate, coordinating wiring and calibration for seamless operation.
Can you handle oversized or architectural windows?
Absolutely. We engineer custom hardware and support systems for large or unconventional dimensions.
What if something doesn’t fit perfectly at installation?
Because our installers and fabricators work together, adjustments are made immediately—often the same day—to ensure flawless results.
Service & Sustainability
Do you provide pickup and delivery for upholstery or cushions?
Yes. We offer coordinated, white-glove pickup and delivery across the DMV region, ensuring each item arrives in perfect condition.
Do you offer warranty or aftercare?
Yes. Every product includes a workmanship warranty and access to our RMD Lux Care maintenance program for seasonal inspection and fabric refreshes.
How do you handle sustainability or eco-friendly requests?
We offer sustainable linings, natural fiber fabrics, and low-VOC finishes. Our local fabrication model reduces transportation waste and carbon footprint.
What happens if a fabric is delayed or discontinued?
Our project managers communicate immediately with solutions—alternative sourcing, comparable substitutions, or timeline adjustments—to keep projects on track.
